Working Party Outing to Brick
Farm Lakes
As last year,
on Monday 1st
December, some
twelve Syndicate
members who had
helped out at work
parties through the
year, had an end of
season / pre
Christmas day out to
Brick Farm Lakes at
Windmill Hill,
where, in addition
to the fishing, we
partook of a fine
cooked breakfast
provided by Sophie &
Keith, the
proprietors, in the
magnificent oak
fishing lodge.
Although the weather
stayed fine all day, it remained overcast
and the cool north
easterly breeze made
conditions somewhat uncomfortable on the
more exposed Well
and Stag lakes. As a
result, all but one
or two of the most
hardy individuals
stuck with the more
sheltered Brick
lake, where things
were much more
clement. Even so, it
was still nice to
retreat back into
the lodge every now
and again for a cup
of hot tea or coffee
and a warm up in
front of the log
burner. .
Fortunately the fish
were quite
co-operative this
year and everyone
managed to catch
their limit, some
even before our 11am
breakfast.
Most of the fish,
all rainbows, were
in the 11/2
to 2lb range, the
best being a fine
fish of 3lb 4oz,
caught by Brenda
Newington, the only
lady present.
Brenda and husband
Clive only started
fly fishing in June
this year when they
joined the
Syndicate, are keen
as mustard and have
really come on in
leaps and bounds
since then.
