 ENews - February 2015

At this moment in time I don’t know how many of last years members have already renewed or intend to renew their membership of the Syndicate in 2015. However you are receiving this newsletter in the hope that one or the other applies.

We have revised the Conditions & Rules slightly over last year, doing away with the one visit per venue per week clause and the single fly only rule, as fly fishing has moved on since the rules were first formulated and it will therefore now be quite legitimate to fish say a buzzer suspended from a dry fly, which is quite an exiting and relaxing way of fishing as a change from pulling a lure through the water.

The combination code for all the padlocks will be changed prior to the season opening on 1st March at Piplye and 21st March at Cinder Hill, the new numbers being shown in the copy of the Conditions & Rules you receive as part of your 2015 membership package.

Work Parties

I realise that maybe it’s rather short notice, but now that things have dried up a bit, we will hold a pre season Work Party at Piplye on Saturday 21st February. The work involved will be a general tidy up of the bank side vegetation, cleaning out the drainage ditches on the field side of Grubbero Pool, removal of any leaves etc that has accumulated in the silt traps over the winter on Grubbero since cleaning them out last autumn, re-installation of scarecrows and a hawk kite to try & deter the cormorants, plus any other little jobs that need attention. Tools required: spades, forks, swaps, loppers, shears, rakes, strimmers or anything else you think might be useful.

As usual we will muster on site at around 9 a.m. and it would be helpful if possible, that could you please let me know if you are able to attend, otherwise just turn up, I’m sure we will find plenty for you to do, let’s hope the weather co-operates.

Further work parties will be arranged as necessary at both Cinder Hill & Piplye as the season progresses.

Best regards and tight lines in 2015, I hope to see some of you on the 21st.

Mike Richardson, Syndicate Organiser.
